THE 1975 – Song mit Spoken-Word-Feature von Greta Thunberg
Es gibt eine große Gemeinsamkeit bei den drei bislang veröffentlichten Studioalben von The 1975: Sie werden mit einer Variation des Tracks „The 1975“ eröffnet. Auch beim vierten Studioalbum „Notes On A Conditional Form“ bleibt die Band dieser Tradition treu. Das Besondere aber ist: Greta Thunberg ist Gast auf dem Spoken-Word-Track:

“We have to acknowledge that the older generations have failed. All political movements in their present form have failed. But homo sapiens have not yet failed. Yes, we are failing, but there is still time to turn everything around.”, so Thunberg. Damit feiert Greta Thunberg ihr Musik-Debüt. Alle Einnahmen aus der Single gehen an die Organisation Extinction Rebellion, die gegen die politische Untätigkeit gegen die Klimakrise protestiert.
Der Track entstand Ende Juni 2019 in Stockholm und Greta Thunberg sagt: “I’m grateful to get the opportunity to get my message out to a broad new audience in a new way. I think it’s great that the 1975 is so strongly engaged in the climate crisis. We quickly need to get people in all branches of society to get involved. And this collaboration I think is something new.”
